Biography

Nutritionist and M.Sc. degree at Federal University of Viçosa (UFV), Brasil, Ph.D in Nutrition (University of Navarra, Spain), Postdoctoral Fellow in Metabolism and Obesity (Pennington Biomedical Research Center, Baton Rouge, LA, USA) and Obesity (University of Navarra, Spain). Professor of Clinical Nutrition (1983-present), Head of the Graduate Program Committee of Nutritional Sciences, UFV. The research fields in which she has been involved during her scientific career include: Nutritional and Hormonal control in obesity and associated complications ; Nutritional utilization of functional foods; Evaluation of nutritional status in different populations; Interactions between Nutrition and genetics; nutritionally–oriented epidemiological surveys. She has acted as external reviewer for Research National Agencies in Spain and Argentina. Coordinator of two laboratories: Energy metabolism and body composition/ and Clinical analyses. Fellowship of CNPq, level 1.
