1984 PhD; Title of thesis: „Nutrient supply of elderly people“‘
1993 Post doc and Habilitation in Human Nutrition
Title of thesis: „Evaluation of vitamin status measurements“

Professional Expertise:
1980 – 1993 Researcher at the Institute of Nutritional Sciences University Giessen
Vitamin research, bioavailability and kinetics of vitamins; nutrient supply
and requirement in different age groups; nutritional epidemiological studies:
large cross-sectional and intervention studies
1993 – 1996 Substitute professorship at the University of Paderborn
1996 – 1997 Scientific director at the Federal Institute for Health Protection of
Consumers and Veterinary Medicine (BgVV) in Berlin in the
Department of Nutritional Medicine. Responsible for regulation of
dietetic and novel food; counselling of the German Ministry of
Health; ad-hoc group for Codex Alimentarius at the BgVV
since 1997 Professor in Human Nutrition (fullship) at the University of Paderborn;
