Biography

Rekia BELAHSEN is PhD, Professor, Head of the Training and Research Unit on Nutrition & Food Sciences and Head of the Lab. of Biotechnology, Biochemistry and Nutrition at Chouaïb Doukkali University in El Jadida (Morocco). Consultant in Nutrition. Obtained several grants, awards and numerous fellowships like the FAO Medal of Merit (Morocco) in 2007 and a grant from Islamic Development Bank in 1998. Author of many publications and involved in several journals’ editorial like the Mediterranean Journal of Nutrition and Metabolism. Was/is executive member of many national and international organizations and groups: Health and Environment Research Group, the Moroccan Society of Nutrition, FANUS, MENANA and IUNS. Participated to several organizations of meetings like the First Federation of African Nutrition Sciences (FANUS) meeting, in Ouarzazate (Morocco) in 2007, the first international meeting of Nutrition in Marrakech (Morocco) in 2011, The International Workshop on Nutrition Transition in El Jadida (Morocco). The main current research subjects concern: nutrition transition, community nutrition, Mediterranean diet, obesity, micronutrient deficiency and Food composition and food sustainability.
